Steve Stephan (Moderator)

Steve’s background includes working as a Regulatory Counsel specializing in insurance compliance consulting, and he was the Director of Government Relations for the NAPSLO. Steve’s credentials also include earning his JD and industry CPCU, ASLI, ARe and MCM designations.

Dan Maher

As the Executive Director and COO, Dan Maher leads ELANY. Prior to joining ELANY, Dan served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel for Lancer Insurance Company where he was responsible for, among other things, the analysis of insurance policy coverage and commercial and insurance litigation. He also served as General Counsel and Secretary for DMT Financial Group and was a Litigation Associate for Greenhill, Speyer & Thurm. Dan is an attorney licensed to practice in the states of New Jersey and New York and a number of federal courts. He holds the ASLI designation and is a member of American Bar Association (ABA).

John Meetz

John is the Senior State Relations Manager for WSIA. Before joining WSIA, John worked with the American Academy of Actuaries where he served as the Government Affairs Liaison to the Kansas Insurance Commissioner Sandy Praeger. John holds a degree in Political Science and a master’s degree in Government.

Dave Ocasek

David Ocasek is the Chief Executive Officer of the Surplus Line Association of Illinois. He is responsible for the development and implementation of the overall strategic goals of the Association with a focus on technology, education and regulatory affairs. A former Yale University attendee, Mr. Ocasek is a native of the Chicago area where he lives with his wife and children.
