Webinar: You Can’t Read an Insurance Policy Like Anything Else

Thursday, April 18, 3:00 pm Eastern

100 Years ago, a fire policy covering someone’s home was a one-page document. Today, a homeowners’ policy can be 30-40 pages (or more). To make it even more interesting there are states that require insurance policies achieve a readability score and prohibit policies that use complex sentence structure. Yet everyone still has trouble reading and understanding insurance policies. What’s covered? What’s excluded? What do I need to do when there is a loss?

Join us for a FREE educational webinar taught by Patrick Wraight where we will explore how to read and understand an insurance policy. This session will:

  • Discuss the fundamental guidelines for reading an insurance policy
  • Interpret the words used in an insurance policy
  • Demonstrate the importance of conjunctions in lists in an insurance policy

Patrick started his career as a commercial underwriter, writing fire departments, ambulance companies, home medical equipment dealers and other niche markets. There, he developed a training program for new underwriters, specializing in both classroom and online training, after which he became a learning consultant helping customers plan and execute their training programs.

Patrick now directs the Academy of Insurance, which offers over 200 specialized courses as well as weekly webinars for insurance experts that are used to train and develop insurance professionals. Courses are available in personal and commercial lines, workers compensation, sales, and general insurance.

This webinar is approved for both SILA Designation and Professional Development CE credit. To receive credit you must register and attend the live webinar in entirety.
